21 Weeks - 21 Chances to Grow
WEEK 7: ROCKSTAR (FREESTYLE)
December 8, 2017
I apologize for the delay and hiatus causing a huge gap in between the releases. Life hit hard but nobody likes excuses lol, so WE HERE!
One of the most refreshing surprises of this year was linking up and spending more time with someone I hold in high regards and consider to be one of my brothers. The last couple of months, I have been to myself for many reasons, aside from a few people I speak to daily. I didn’t realize that so much time had passed between me linking with KS and checking in to see how he’d been doing.
During this time, he was dealing with his own internal and external hardships as well. To follow up after my Week 6 post about struggling with suppressed emotions and breaking down as a result, the universe did its thing at the most opportune time. KS randomly popped up on me in the midst of me having a public breakdown. Not only did this bring us closer, but it opened up an opportunity to freely talk about our individual struggles - something that men are taught keep quiet about and classify as being strong.
Throughout this time and our conversations, I noticed that he was dealing with a lot too. I would try to check up on him more often just to see how he was doing but thinking back, I could have honestly been more accessible. However the way the universe works out, after he was there to support me during my breakdown, we have been spending way more time together on a weekly basis. The mental growth has helped me obtain an understanding of self-preservation that couldn’t have come at a better time. He helped light a fire of confidence in me and showed me that making sure I’m good first before helping everyone else isn’t selfish but rather the balance that I needed.
I am grateful that we crossed paths at this time in our lives where we both needed each other. I hope my presence in his life, guidance and advice is everything that he has been relaying to me. In respect to us holding each other down, week 7 is dedicated to the first track we have done in almost a year together. A freestyle over Post Malone’s ft. 21 Savage “Rockstar”.
